Enterprise users of Gmail can now send end-to-end encrypted emails, not just to users within their domain and not just to Gmail users, but to users of any email service (in this case, the user will have to click a link to read the message on GMail private area). To encrypt a message, sender simply needs to click the "Advanced Encryption" button and Gmail will do the rest. Google encrypts the message on client-side before sending it to the cloud, meaning that no one, neither Google nor any other organization, except the recipient, can read its contents. This complies with various data regulation laws.

WordPress Community has released the new version 6.8.3. It fixes a data exposure issue where authenticated users could access some restricted content and a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability requiring an authenticated user role that affects the nav menus. Because this is a security release, it is recommended that you update your sites immediately. It's also an extension to major WordPress 6.8 version that was released in the spring. It improved the Style Book (that allows to control global styles) - now has a structured layout and works with Classic themes. It also introduced speculative loading that speeds up navigation by preloading links before users navigate to them. Besides, new bcrypt hashing strengthened password security automatically and database optimizations improved performance.

OpenAI recently signed a $100 billion contract with NVidia, seemingly replacing Microsoft as its preferred partner. And perhaps that's why Microsoft suddenly decided to use models from OpenAI's main competitor, Anthropic, in its AI assistant Copilot (along with ChatGPT). Microsoft signed a deal to use Anthropic's AI in Office 365 applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Thus, business users of Copilot will be able to choose between GPT and Claude for specific tasks, such as complex research, building custom AI tools and enterprise-grade agents. For example, Claude Opus 4.1 is better suited for complex reasoning, coding and deep architecture planning, while Claude Sonnet 4 is better suited for routine development tasks, processing large amounts of data and content generation.

The note-taking service Notion has launched its first AI agent. The agent will use all of a user's pages and database as context to automatically generate notes, reports and analytical dashboards. The agent can create pages and databases and update them with new data. Users can customize the agent's "profile" page to tell it how to access sources, format output and when implement tasks and deliverables. The agent can also be used to process data from external platforms connected to the service. For example, you can ask the Notion agent to create an issue tracking dashboard from various sources, including Slack, email and Google Drive. The new agent is based on Notion AI, an existing content search and summary feature.

Zoom has unveiled a new AI companion that can work across multiple video meeting apps. The company has long offered an AI bot capable of recording and transcribing Zoom's own video conferences, but the new assistant can also work with competing systems like Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Who needs this? Apparently, someone does, as cross-platform note-taking services like Read AI, Otter, Fireflies, Granola and Circleback have become quite popular. Zoom is following their example, allowing users to take notes during meetings and then expand and structure them using AI. It also features cross-platform search, allowing users to access information from all platforms, such as Google and Microsoft. The assistant can also schedule meetings and create AI avatars that mimic the user.

It appears the real reason for Oracle's sharp rise this week isn't its major contract with OpenAI, but rather its upcoming acquisition of TikTok (along with investment firms Andreessen Horowitz and Silver Lake Management). On September 15, after two days of talks in Madrid, senior US and Chinese officials presented a framework agreement for the creation of an American version of TikTok. This week, US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will discuss the document. TikTok is China's most valuable private company, valued at $400 billion. From the business perspective, it's the largest social network and advertising platform.

Lately, all the IT giants want to have their own browser. On the one hand, this topic is fueled by the antitrust trial against Google, which threatens to separate Chrome from it. On the other hand, there is a potential revolution that AI-browsing can cause (similar to the one that AI-search caused). Atlassian, which actually develops SaaS products for software companies, suddenly decided to buy The Browser Company, which produces the AI browser Dia, for $610 million. Atlassian hopes to create an AI browser optimized for SaaS applications running in tabs - a browser for knowledge workers. The Browser Company CEO Josh Miller said that his company will operate independently under Atlassian and will continue to develop Dia.

Oracle shares have surged more than 33%, making Oracle founder Larry Ellison the world's richest person in a single day after the company said demand for its AI cloud services was growing. Since the start of 2025, the company's stock has already risen 45%, outpacing even the Magnificent Seven and the S&P 500 index. Investors are betting on a boom in the AI cloud space, where Oracle is becoming an increasingly influential player. In August, Oracle signed four multi-billion dollar contracts with three clients and CEO Safra Catz said there would be more such deals in the coming months, with orders potentially exceeding $500 billion. However, Reuters notes that despite this breakthrough, the main players in the cloud market remain Microsoft, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud with a combined share of 65%.
